The North Carolina Fundamentals of Teaching Adult Learners Part II credentialing course arises from a national training, entitled Standards-in-Action (SIA): Implementing Standards-Based Instruction for English Learners, that was attended by NCCC System Office staff and state-level instructors in the summer of 2020.

From a model English language arts (ELA)/literacy lesson, designed for English learners (EL's) based on the Gettysburg Address, participants in this credentialing course will explore a sequence of research-based instructional activities, designed to address the critical needs of language and content development, and literacy practice in adult learners.

Engagement with, and delivery of, the course content has been adapted from the national training to fit an asynchronous credentialing model.
